My name is Stephen “Red” Holmes and I want to take this opportunity to speak to you concerning a very important issue to me.

I was born in Paris to the late, Cleo and Joyce Holmes and attended Paris schools. I followed in my father’s footsteps becoming a law enforcement officer with the Paris Police Department where I spent my entire career. My father retired after forty years of service. I myself retired due to an auto accident after twenty-six years with the department.

During my time with the department, I promoted through the ranks to Patrol Sergeant then eventually, Detective Sergeant which was the position I retired from. During my years in law enforcement, I worked with many different law enforcement agencies on the local, state, and federal level.

On the local level, the Lamar County Sheriff’s Department is a department that I closely worked with on many cases. In my opinion, Sheriff B.J. McCoy, Chief Deputy Scott Cass and other members of their department have done an excellent job over the past twenty years. I found the department to always be available to assist me in anyway possible at a moment’s notice.

I have worked particularly with Chief Deputy Scott Cass whom I have seen start as a Deputy Sheriff and promote through the ranks to the position he has today. I have observed Scott Cass not only to be a professional law enforcement officer but a servant to the citizens of Lamar County by his involvement in so many community organizations for many years. Scott Cass has spent his entire career here at the Lamar County Sheriff’s Department. Scott Cass has worked very hard in obtaining many hours of training in many different fields of law enforcement.

In my opinion, Scott Cass, is a proven leader, the most qualified candidate, and is prepared to take over this department and carry on the excellent law enforcement service they have provided over the past twenty years.

I fully endorse Scott Cass as the next sheriff of Lamar County.  Please join me by supporting and voting for Scott Cass.

Respectfully,

-Stephen “Red” Holmes
Retired Sergeant, Paris Police Department
