My name is Clayton Coker. I am currently employed as the Compliance Officer/Investigator for the Montana Public Safety Officer Standards and Training Council (Montana’s equivalent to TCLEOSE). I am a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and a twenty-five year veteran law enforcement officer. My past law enforcement experience includes service with the Paris, Texas Police Department (1987-1989 & 1992-1994), the Lamar County, Texas Sheriff's Office (1990), the Lincoln County, Montana Sheriff's Office and the Libby, Montana Police Department. I retired from the Libby Police Department in 2009 after serving thirteen years as the Chief of Police. I served as a Police Instructor in 2000 with the United Nations Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK) and as a Professional Mentor to the Commanding General of the Afghan National Civil Order Police (ANCOP) in Afghanistan in 2009. I hold numerous police commendations which include the Patriot Award, Combat Cross, Gallantry Star, Wounded in Combat, Combat Action (3rd Award) and United Nations Medal. I have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice and am a graduate of the FBI National Academy. I am a life member and former executive board member of the Montana Association of Chiefs of Police, a certified Police Ethics Instructor with the National Institute of Ethics and the Montana Chapter Director of the International Association of Ethics Trainers.

I have known Scott Cass for thirty years. My family are long time residents of Lamar County and have known the Cass family for many, many years. Scott Cass is one of my oldest friends and we have shared many experiences that shaped both of our lives and careers. We are brother “cowboys” of Lamar County, law enforcement officers, administrators, and graduates of the FBI National Academy. I have followed Scott’s career over the years and am very proud of his accomplishments. I have trusted my life to Scott Cass before and would again without hesitation.

I am proud to endorse Scott Cass as your next Republican Sheriff of Lamar County. I am confident that he will protect and serve the citizens to the best of his ability.

Respectfully,

Clayton Coker
